Sailing

October 2nd, 2009

Sailing is the art of controlling a boat with large (usually fabric) foils called sails. By changing the rigging, rudder, and sometimes the keel or centre board, a sailor manages the force of the wind on the sails in order to change the direction and speed of a boat. Mastery of the skill requires experience in varying wind and sea conditions, as well as knowledge concerning sailboats themselves.
The health benefits of sailing affects aerobic capacity, the oxygen uptake during board sailing is greater than when you play tennis or baseball. Muscle strength is part of the health benefits of sailing. In addition, sailing requires flexibility and agility especially when tacking and gibing. Sailing will take your life to the next level. In order to sail you must have good social interaction, teamwork skills, concentration, communication/Comprehension, Motor Skills/Coordination, Confidence/Self-Esteem, and environmental awareness.
South Florida is the prefect place to learn how to sail, master the sport or take an amazing trip down to the keys, Bahamas, or wherever you desire.
